Zenaida "Zeny" (Galang) Maglalang

On May 17, 2020 Zenaida ‘Zeny’ Maglalang was called to eternal peace, surrounded by love and her family.              

Zenaida, nicknamed Zeny, was born on 8/1/1933 in the Philippines to Adelaida Galang and Hospicio Galang. She emigrated to Houston, Texas in 1980 to join her family. She devoted many years helping her daughters babysitting her grandchildren until school age. Afterwards she became an active member of the senior citizen groups both at Notre Dame Church and PASCO. She enjoyed going to daily meetings and weekend parties, and she especially enjoyed the occasional Casino trip. She loved gardening. She could grow anything. She enjoyed dancing from simple waltz to the most complicated Tango steps.

Zenaida had a passion in life which she imparted to her 5 daughters and 12 grandchildren. She taught us to study hard, work hard to achieve our goals.  She became a proud single mother of 5 daughters ,all professionals. She taught us the value of education and hard work. She taught us to love GOD above all, and dedication to family.

Zenaida was an educator all her life. She was a teacher to her children, then a school teacher, promoted to guidance counselor and prior to retirement, achieved her dream of a PHD in education. She was always known for her quick wit, infectious smile and kind and compassionate spirit. She lived life to the fullest and grateful for all the simple blessings.

Zenaida Is preceded in death by her parents, 4 siblings, her daughter Esther Ann Perez, and her nephews Florante Maglalang and Michico Maglalang.

She is survived by her 4 children, Annie Ann Suarez, Cheryl Ann Villacorte, Natalia Ordanez, Mary Ann Watts and surrogate daughter/ sister Vivian Ann Dimaunahan, and many nieces and nephews.

Final thoughts she leaves with us:

To those of you whose parents are still alive… Value them, Cherish them, and love them. Because once they are gone, we will miss them.

We know, We surely will miss you MOM.

A wake will be held at Unity Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 from 3:00 PM  -  6:00 PM.    A Catholic Mass will be on May 21, 2020 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, at 12:30, Funeral home will arrive at church at 11:30 for one hour viewing prior to mass.    Interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer located at Westheimer at Dairy Ashford.
