Virginia Alexis Obituary

Legacy and Life of Virginia “Ginger” Alexis

Virginia “Ginger” Alexis was born on April 20, 1947, in Eutawville, South Carolina, to the late Zack Davis, who passed away in 1983, and the late Dollie Lancaster Davis, who preceded him in death in 2009. They were united in holy matrimony in Eutawville, and their union was blessed with ten children.

Virginia attended Roberts High School, Class of 1965. She later married the love of her life, Mervyn C. Alexis, and together they shared more than fifty years of marriage. Throughout their journey, they built a beautiful family grounded in love, faith, and devotion.

On November 4, 2025, at the age of 78, Virginia “Ginger” Alexis peacefully entered eternal rest. With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Virginia lived a life deeply rooted in faith, compassion, and service to others. Her gentle strength and unwavering kindness touched every life she encountered, reminding all who knew her that love and compassion are the greatest legacies we can leave behind.

For fifty years, Virginia was a dedicated and loyal employee of the Houston Methodist Organization, where she faithfully served as Food Services Specialist for the D-200 Executive Office Suite. Her professionalism, grace, and commitment left an enduring mark on colleagues and all those she served.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Virginia’s warmth and generosity shone brightly. Whether through her radiant smile that could light up any room or the quiet grace she carried wherever she went, she reminded everyone that kindness is a light that never fades.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, David B. Alexis. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Mervyn C. Alexis; her loving sons, Melvin White and Fredrick Alexis, both of Houston, Texas; and her adored granddaughter, Fendi Alexis.

Virginia is also survived by five devoted sisters: Susie Lanier of Pennsylvania; Ellen M.D. Milligan of Vance, South Carolina; Fredrena Davis of Bronx, New York; Pamela Davis Lacayo (Jose Lacayo) of Bronx, New York; and Priscilla Davis (Curtis Mitchell) of Vance, South Carolina. She is lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law Gilbert Alexis and three sisters-in-law, Cornelia Davis of Vance, South Carolina, Angela De-Graff and Uris Augustine-Frank of Trinidad and Tobago; a host of nieces and nephews; and two dear friends and sisters at heart, Carol Kennedy and Sandra Dixon, all of whom will forever be inspired by her love, wisdom, and spirit.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find peace in knowing she rests safely in the arms of the Lord, reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her. Her faith, warmth, and unwavering love will remain with us always.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.”
— Matthew 25:23
