Tyrone Ramon Robinson

Tyrone Ramon Robinson was born on November 7, 1969 to Paulette (Robinson) Berry and Michael Berry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Tyrone was full of energy, heart, and charisma and began his elementary school education in Philadelphia and Detroit, later moving with his family to Houston at the age of 7. He attended Elsik High School in Alief, Texas where he took an interest in sports and music. His magnetic presence made him a favorite wherever he went as he skillfully rapped and emceed at parties all over Southwest Houston earning him the nickname, “Fresh”.

After graduating high school, Tyrone enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in December of 1988 to begin a 30-year military career that would be filled with achievements, accolades and excellence. He devoted his life to service, rising through the ranks with honor, integrity, and a relentless sense of duty. His background includes various duties in Intelligence Operations at the squadron, wing, and major command headquarters levels. His assignments included bases in Texas, Alaska, Virginia, Florida, Georgia and California. He also served overseas in the United Kingdom, and deployed to Turkey, Iraq and Qatar. Tyrone, or “RMax” as his comrades called him, achieved the rare and prestigious accomplishment of reaching the U.S. Air Force’s highest enlisted rank-Chief Master Sergeant. When selected for promotion to Chief on his first attempt, he did so as an underdog who outshined more seasoned peers. He was a brilliant analyst and instinctual leader, who inspired through his actions and character. 

Even as he rose through the ranks, family remained his anchor. Off-duty, he never missed an opportunity to visit or check-in. A proud Philadelphia Eagles fan, he wore their gear with pride and was rarely seen not repping his favorite team. 

Chief Master Sergeant Tyrone Robinson lived by the Air Force’s Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do. His legacy is more than medals and promotions; it is moral courage, quiet strength, and a resolve to leave every Airman better than he found them. He changed lives, not only by demanding greatness, but also by exemplifying it. His infectious laugh will echo in our memories and his love for his family, country, and community will never be forgotten. His legacy lives on the Airmen who look up to him, the family he held close and the values he embodied. 

Tyrone went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents Paulette and Michael Berry. He leaves to cherish his memories one sister, Tanya Berry; one nephew, Moses Berry; one niece, Brianna Berry; one aunt, Pamela Burt, and a host of cousins, comrades and close friends.
