It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Teresa Bonilla De Moreno, also known as Mama Teresita, aged 85, she passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, in Houston, Texas. She was born on May 30, 1940, in El Salvador, to her loving parents. Teresa was an inspiring woman of resilience and bravery. She was charming, warm, kind, loving, fierce, tenacious, and admirable. Her vibrant spirit was truly infectious and brought joy to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her son José Ángel Moreno, her father Abel Bonilla, mother Teresa Majano, her sisters Tomasa Bonilla Benítez, Filomena Bonilla Sánchez, Valentina Bonilla, Pancha Bonilla, and Maria Bonilla, brothers Rufino Bonilla, Moncho Bonilla, and Arturo Bonilla
She left behind a grieving family, including her husband Adalberto Moreno, her adult children Edis Moreno, Luis Alfredo Moreno, Jorge Moreno, Alba Luz Moreno, Roberto Antonio Moreno, Pedro Ángel Moreno, Brenda Moreno Villegas, Denys Moreno, and Carlos Moreno. Among her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she leaves a lasting legacy of love, strength, and devotion to family that will continue to guide them for generations to come.
Teresa was born into a time when education was a luxury and work was a necessity for survival. Despite completing only up to second grade, she was a lifelong learner and taught herself to read and write. Her tenacity was evident in her refusal to be defined by her circumstances. Even though she was a stay-at-home wife for most of her life, her work extended far beyond her own home. She often took on babysitting jobs and was known for her deep love for children, she also worked preparing fireworks in her native country, a meticulous and hard job. Cooking was her love language. She expressed her care through the meals she prepared, using food as a way of comfort, connecting, and show devotion to those she cherished.
She was not just a doting caregiver but also an enthusiastic hobbyist. She loved watching Novelas and playing Lotería. She also found joy in playing cards, coloring, doodling, and painting figurines with her great-grandchildren. Her hobbies were a testament to her vibrant spirit, her zest for life, and her love for her family. Teresa's defining characteristic was her kind heart. She was always ready to lend a helping hand and was much loved by those around her, both in her native country and her adopted home. Her willingness to help and her loving nature made her a beloved figure in her community. She had a heart that radiated love and a soul that spread joy.
As we mourn the loss of our beloved Teresa, we also celebrate her life and the love she shared with us. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory live on in the hearts of those she touched with her kindness and love.
