Sammie was born in Murchison, Texas and grew up in the Houston Heights. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston and attended Baylor University.
Sammie became a draftsman in the oil & gas industry, a career she pursued for nearly 20 years. In 1958, she married Bobby Jones, with whom she had a son, David Bryan (1960 - 2020). In 1964, she met and married Robert L. “Bob” Booher (1937 - 1981), who adopted and reared David as his own. In 1987, she and Ben Bullock (1932 - 2017) married and shared thirty wonderful years, fostering love and humor in the coming generations.
Sammie was the neighborhood mom and “Mama Boo” to all of David’s numerous friends. She had a gift for gentle guidance to young people that nurtured their growth and independence. This trait and trademark name carried on to her grandchildren & nieces, as well.
Sammie was preceded in death by her son, David, husbands Bob and Ben, her parents Roy and Christine Jackson, and sisters Susan Greene and Jimmie Jackson. She leaves behind a large extended family who loved and will deeply miss her.
A memorial service will be held at Brookdale Memorial City at 11900 Barryknoll Ln, Houston, TX 77024 on November 18th, 2023 at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Camp Hope by The PTSD Foundation of America.
