Roman Mejia Obituary

On Wednesday, February 10, 2021, Roman Mejia, loving husband, father, and grandfather of six children passed away at the age of 66.   Roman was born May 18, 1954 in Santa Barbara, Honduras to Juan Roman Mejia and Hilda A Tinco Mejia. He moved to the United States in 1967 to study and lived with his uncle Miguel A. Mejia and his family. He returned to Honduras in 1973. He married Suyapa Antonia Mejia Castellanos in 1979. Together they raised two daughters, Mariely and Lea. He played an active role in his grandchildren’s lives.

Roman loved watching old cowboy movies, wrestling, and listening to 70s mellow music. He developed a love to Our Lady of Fatima and was an active member in his home parish of Notre Dame Catholic Church. He was helped with the RICA program and El Grupo San Miguel. 

Roman was preceded in death by his father, Roman, and his mother Hilda. He is survived by his wife Suyapa, his two daughters, Mariely and Lea, his six grandchildren Izzy, Emily, Christian, Carlos, Linda, and Joaquin Antonio, his siblings Suyapa, Gaspar, Mario, Fatima, Eloisa, Carlos, Camelia, Hilda, Yolany, Mauricio, and his cousins Mike, Eloisa, and Lourdes.

A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, 1:00 PM February 24th, 2021 at Notre Dame Catholic Church on 7720 Boone Rd. Houston, TX 77072., Funeral Home will arrive at 12:00 PM for a one hour visitation, the family has chose to do a Rosary during this hour.



 

El miércoles 10 de Febrero de 2021, Roman Mejía, esposo amoroso, padre y abuelo de seis falleció a la edad de 66 años.   Roman nació el 18 de Mayo de 1954 en Santa Bárbara, Honduras siendo sus padres Juan Román Mejía e Hilda A Tinco Mejía. Se mudó a los Estados Unidos en 1967 para estudiar y vivió con su tío Miguel A. Mejía y su familia. Regresó a Honduras en 1973 y se casó con Suyapa Antonia Mejia Castellanos en 1979. Juntos criaron dos hijas, Mariely y Lea. Roman era activo en la vida de sus nietos.

A Roman le encantaba ver viejas películas de vaqueros, lucha libre,  y escuchar música suave de los 70. Desarrolló un amor por Nuestra Señora de Fátima y fue un miembro activo de la Iglesia Católica Notre Dame, su parroquia de origen. Se ofreció como voluntario en el programa RICA y El Grupo San Miguel.

Roman fue precedido en la muerte por su padre, Roman, y su madre Hilda. Le sobreviven su esposa Suyapa, sus dos hijas, Mariely y Lea, sus seis nietos Izzy, Emily, Christian, Carlos, Linda y Joaquin Antonio, sus hermanos Suyapa, Gaspar, Mario, Fatima, Eloisa, Carlos, Camelia, Hilda, Yolany, Mauricio y sus primos Mike, Eloisa y Lourdes.

Se llevará a cabo una misa fúnebre el miércoles a la 1:00 p.m. 24 de febrero de 2021 en la Iglesia Católica de Notre Dame en 7720 Boone Rd. Houston, TX 77072., Funeral Home llegará a las 12:00 PM para una visita de una hora, la familia ha optado por rezar el Rosario durante esta hora.
