Rebecca Lantin

Rebecca Lantin was born in Mabitac, Laguna, Philippines on June 17th, 1944 to parents Lorenzo & Gregoria. She was part of a large family with 7 brothers and sisters. Reby was a middle child who had an adventurous and ambitious spirit. 

She studied nursing at the University of Santo Thomas and made her way to Chicago, Illinois to finish her nursing residency at Cook County Hospital.   She married Ernesto Altamirano Lantin on Dec 6th, 1970. They settled in Houston, TX in 1971 and their only child Simounette was born on October 2nd, 1972.

Becky worked at Methodist Hospital as a cardiovascular surgical nurse for 25+ years with the esteemed heart surgeon Dr. DeBakey. She even helped the DeBakey Group setup a hospital in Saudi Arabia for 6 months. Becky then went on to work at Memorial Hermann Hospital and the VA Hospital.

Her passions included traveling, cultivating orchids, creating jewelry and making chocolate cakes to bring to loved ones.   She was never one to sit still and worked as a home health nurse till her passing on Dec 9th, 2022.    She is survived by her husband Ernie and daughter Monette.

An intimate viewing and small service for immediate family & close friends will take place on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Unity Funeral Home, 7730 Boone Road, Houston, Texas  77072.     The service details are as follows:   

5-6pm Rosary/ viewing
6-7pm Vigil mass with eulogy
