Lady Jewel Antley Welch of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on October 20, 2022.
Jewel was born on July 30th. 1933 in Point, Louisiana and graduated from Downsville High School. Jewel was an incredible cook who loved spending time with her family and friends. Everyone that met Jewel immediately were drawn to her warmth and smile.
She had a fulfilling life working many years at Texas Instruments, after retirement she began her second chapter of life with her husband, Daren Spencer Welch. Together they traveled around the world, took many cruises together and visited Europe several times.
Jewel is preceded in death by her parents, Sharp Antley and Letha Carter, her sibling Camille Acree as well as her former husband and father of her children, James Carlton Grayson.
She is survived by her loving husband, Daren, her children Deborah Kay Grayson and James Michael Grayson (Karen), grandchildren, stepchildren Mary Lynn Gentry, Mark Welch and Joe Welch as well as many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the caregivers of Home Instead, Griswold Home Care and Houston Hospice for their tender care during her illness.
Jewel touched many lives and will be missed by all those who loved her.
