Elizabeth Webb Obituary

Elizabeth Webb was born December 14, 1946, in Jackson County hospital in Marianna, FL to the late Lillie Lettinghand Webb and Richard Henry Webb. She was the youngest of seven children. She attended public school in Marianna, FL. She moved to Saint Petersburg, FL and graduated from Gibbs High School in 1965.

She was employed as a CNA for two years at the Swann Nursing Home in Saint Petersburg, FL. She joined the Job Corps and moved to Clinton, Iowa for two and a half years. Elizabeth moved to Philadelphia, PA in 1969, where she was employed by the Department of the Navy as a Data Processor until 1984.

While in Philadelphia, she was an active member of Ebenezer Seventh-day Adventist Church. She volunteered as a Sabbath School teacher in the Cradle Roll and Primary Classes and was an active member of the Dorcas Society, now known as the Community Services Department.

In 1986, she left Philadelphia and returned to Saint Petersburg, FL, and for six years Elizabeth was a caregiver for her mother. She was a member of Elim Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where she was a Sabbath School teacher in the Cradle Roll Class.

February 1990, Elizabeth moved to Houston, TX to seek medical attention. She became a member of Houston International Seventh-day Adventist Church. She also worked on the weekends in the nursery departments at several churches in the Houston area.

Every church she attended, she always enjoyed and loved working with the children. The children would always gather around her after church to get their Sabbath candy treats. Elizabeth’s hobbies were studying her Bible and her Sabbath School Lessons, being on the prayer line, putting together puzzles, and of course TALKING. She would embrace you, and she never met a stranger.

Elizabeth was very thoughtful and considerate of others, always giving of herself, and sharing resources to help others. She was stubborn and headstrong and very dedicated to her convictions. Elizabeth was our modern-day Job. No matter the situation with her health, she persevered, holding on to her strong belief that it was all in God’s hands. She fought a good fight, she finished her course, and she kept the faith. Her favorite scriptures were Psalm 19:14 and Jeremiah 17:14, and her favorite songs were “Midnight Cry,” and “I Can Only Imagine.” When ending our phone calls, it was always, “I love you,” and she would respond, “I love you more.” We will truly miss our sister, our aunt, our cousin, and true friend.
