David Rice Obituary

David was born on Christmas Day, 2001, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and grew up surrounded by love in Houston, Texas. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 6, 2026  far too soon, and leaving behind a family and a wife who adored him.

Several years ago, David traveled to the Philippines to be with his mother Estela's extended family, and what began as a visit became a chapter that defined his life. He grew and thrived among their many friends and family, embraced the warmth of that community, and fell in love with the country, with the people, and with Nemia Niegos, a schoolteacher who captured his heart. The two were married in a beautiful ceremony in the Philippines on December 8, 2024, and from that day forward, David carried great hope and excitement for the future they were building together. At the time of his passing, he was working to bring Nemia to Houston, dreaming of the family they would one day start.  David attended Cypress Park High School in Cypress, Texas, and worked alongside his parents in the restaurant business — a place where he showed up with the same easygoing spirit he brought to everything in life. He was a devoted son and a genuinely helpful presence in the home, always willing to lend a hand to his mom and dad. His bond with his older brother Bobby was one of his greatest joys, and the two spent countless hours together playing video games and simply being brothers.  Food was its own kind of love language in David's world. He and his grandmother Deb shared a standing tradition of trips to Ninfa's and a mutual devotion to good Mexican food, and he had a deep appreciation for all the wonderful Filipino dishes lovingly prepared by his mother Estela, whose cooking is a gift to everyone lucky enough to sit at her table.  David was sweet, caring, and warm — a calming and easy presence in the lives of everyone who knew him. He had many hopes and dreams, and he approached life with quiet optimism and a generous heart.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nemia Niegos Rice; his mother, Estela Rice Eberhart; his father, Kurt Eberhart; his brother, Bobby Rice; his grandmother, Deb Eberhart; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will carry him in their hearts.   David will be deeply and dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
