Charlie King Sr was born on July 16, 1921 in Industry, Texas to Frank and Norma King.
He attended public school in Industry, Texas. Charlie met and married Lillie Bell Jerrols in August of 1939. To this union 12 children were born. Charlie Jr., James, Gloria, Robert, George, Alvin, Patricia, Raymond, Larry, Carolyn, Sherry, Genesis (A dozen roses). At an early age Charlie accepted Jesus as his Savior. He joined Wilson Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Wilson. He later joined Evangelist Temple under the leadership of Elder Thomas James King. He served as a deacon and superintendent of Sunday School and Men’s Day. Charlie later continued serving the Lord at Randall Cathedral under the Late H.B. Randall. Charlie is survived by sons, Charlie Jr, Alvin (Linda), Larry and Genesis King, Daughters, Gloria, Patricia, Carolyn and Sherry. Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Charlie had a lawn care service which expanded 65 years. He had a green thumb. He had a gift of making his customer’s yard look like a work of art. In his younger years he worked with the construction of Addicks Dam. He also had a wood service where he had customers from all over Texas. Charlie was also a farmer, raising pigs, chickens and goats. Dad and Mom would always share with neighbors and family. Their home was a refuge for many family members throughout the years. He spent his time praying for his family and others. His motto was “Give it to the Good Lord and let Him handle it.”
Charlie is preceded in death by his loving wife Lillie Bell King, his parents: Frank and Norma King, sons: James, Robert, George and Raymond King. Also, grandson: Larry Jr and brothers: Buster, Thomas James, Howard and Leon King, sisters: Emma, Mattie, Viola and Florence.
Services are scheduled on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 10:00 AM at Church At The Cross, 3835 S. Dairy Ashford Rd., Houston, Tx 77082 (Funeral Home will arrive to the church at 9:30 AM). Following funeral service, procession will lead all to his final resting place at Houston Memorial Gardens Cemetery, located at 2426 Cullen Blvd., Pearland, Texas 77581.
