Catherine Rose (Donatico) Bannister

Catherine Rose Bannister (née Donatico), age 82, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, at her home in Houston, Texas surrounded by family. Born on September 14, 1943, in Norwalk, Connecticut, Catherine lived a full and vibrant life devoted to her family and the simple joys that brought her happiness.

Catherine was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Bannister and a devoted mother to three children: Jesse(Denise) Bannister, Barbara Bannister, and the late Lisa Bannister Davis. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren—Nira (Robert) Felton, Casey Hancock, Westley (LeeAnn) Tipton, Kelsey Bannister, Jessica Bannister, and Mena Ashwood—and ten great-grandchildren who brought her immense pride and joy. She also leaves behind her cherished siblings Joanne (Alex) Davidson, Michele (Salvatore) Rizzetta, and John Donatico, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who held a special place in her heart.

Family was the cornerstone of Catherine’s life. She loved her family more than anything and found deep fulfillment in nurturing those around her. Whether preparing a home-cooked meal from scratch or tending to her garden with care and patience, she created a warm and welcoming environment for all who entered her home. Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of favorite recipes passed down through generations—a testament to her love of cooking.  

Catherine also enjoyed playing cards with friends, where laughter and friendly competition were always part of the game. Her green thumb brought beauty into every season as she cultivated flowers with dedication. These hobbies were not just pastimes but expressions of her generous spirit and zest for life. 

She spent her final days surrounded by compassion thanks to the dedicated care provided by her doctors and the staff at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. Catherine often expressed how deeply grateful she was for their kindness, saying she felt loved and cared for like a queen. 

Catherine’s presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Her memory lives on in the hearts of those she touched with every shared recipe, blooming flowerbed, or hand of cards played in good company. 

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Funeral Mass will be held on December 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Notre Dame Catholic Church 7720 Boone Rd., Houston, Tx   77072
