Bernardo Alvarez was born on July 31, 1933, in San Antonio, Texas to Raymond and Laura Alvarez. He passed away on December 7, 2022, in Houston, Texas. He was 89 years of age.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Alvarez. They were married for 61 years. He is survived by his daughter, Laura Ginter, his son-in-law, Terry Ginter, and his granddaughter,
Margaret Ashley Ginter. Bernardo was the second oldest of 4 children. He is survived by his sister, Isabel Ziegler and his brother, Rodolfo Alvarez. He was preceded in death by his sister Laura Herrera.
Bernardo served in the army as a paratrooper and later became a printer by trade. He met and married Margaret in Chicago, Illinois. Unable to have children of their own, they opened their hearts and adopted their daughter Laura.
Bernardo was a 32 nd degree Mason, a Scottish Rite, and a Shriner. He was an avid woodworker who created many wonderful objects for his enjoyment and for his family. He was extremely
artistic and dabbled in stained glass as well. He loved puzzles and cowboy movies.
He was a loving father and grandfather who will be missed. Me too.
Mr. Alvarez requested a cremation with no funeral services held. We are fulfilling his request.
