Armaveni “Armine” Keshishian
December 6, 1944 – February 25, 2016
Armaveni “Armine” Keshishian was born on December 6, 1944 in Cairo, Egypt, the only daughter of Simon Taktakian and Victoria Toubalian. She was married to Boghos “Paul” Keshishian, who predeceased her 18 years ago. She has lived in Texas since the early 1980s. She died peacefully in Houston, Texas on February 25, 2016.
Armine is survived by her daughter, Brigitte Segura and grandsons Shaunt Agob and Julien Segura; her son and daughter-in-law Bram Keshishian and Cherry Sabado and grandsons Paul Brandon Keshishian and Kurt Sabado; and her son and daughter-in-law Simon & Ani Keshishian and granddaughter Ariana Keshishian. Also, Armine leaves behind her very good friend, Judy Lange.
Armine had a big personality and enjoyed family and friends and loved all her grandchildren very much. She was a devoted mother and a community leader in Armenian causes. Over the years, she was active in her church, Parish Council, Women’s Guild, and the Armenian Relief Society. Armine lived a full life. She fluently spoke five different languages (English, French, Armenian, Arabic, and Turkish), and taught at the American University of Beirut, where she earned a Masters degree and met her husband. In addition to teaching French at AUB, she taught Arabic to FBI agents at Berlitz Language School.
She leaves behind many people who loved and valued her, and numerous others who called her a good friend. Above all, she leaves us with the spirit of her friendship, her compassion, her sense of humor, wit, and charm that lit up the room every time she was present.
